As second part of a trilogy (another) Stunt is another departure from the regular albums by Giuseppe Ielasi. Where on his other work he has a focus on improvised guitar and ambient processing for this series he is working with a record player and a large selection of vinyl. With these sound sources he has created 6 tracks that share both elements from micromusic as hiphop.
Taking small samples, crackless and cuts from vinyl and building new music with these is nothing new. Especially in the hiphop scene this form of turntablism is common. On (another) Stunt the musician Ielasi uses a similar approach, though his choice for samples are coming from a complete different direction. No funky drums and basslines are used. But rather, we hear short guitar samples, harps and straight forward scratches. From these rhythmic pieces are created. Even the sparse use of vocals eventually blend in with the "beats". Only in the last track we hear this short tribute to the funky history of hiphop by using more common sounds.
Because Giuseppe Ielasi uses his how version of samples the music has a certain positive and playful element which makes this EP a pleasure to listen to, even for a broader audience than he would reach with his regular albums.
