Pablo Reche - Paredes

RATED: 9.9 / 10
reviewed by David Velez

British label The Locus Of has published an impressive amount of releases through the past 7 years. Last year they published Paredes (Walls) by Argentinean drone master Pablo Reche: an amazing 16 minute release full of heavy and powerful sounds combined with subtle sines and tonalities and surrounded by sheer crispy textures.

I had the opportunity to exchange a few words via mail with Pablo Reche about this release.

For this release Pablo Reche used an analog Korg synthesizer which he sampled for drones and heavy pads (he calls them "raw and powerful"). Pablo Reche doesn't use computers to create his sounds but instead uses analog sources, field recordings and small devices.

Pablo Reche found inspiration to create Paredes on The Locus Of's C by Cornucopia from Puerto Rico. The textures and sounds used on C were easily linked to the sounds that were being created on the Korg synthesizer. Pablo Reche is a personal friend of Cornucopia and they released together Nebula 9.3 on Spanish label Testing Ground.

Without a doubt a great release, if you aren't familiar with the work of this great artist this is a great way to start.

Read all about and by David Velez and listen to his favorite tracks!
