Mastering

A mastering engineer listens to the recorded tracks and makes subtle changes that get your sound to yet another level. Sometimes it’s a little adjustment to the mix, other times it’s perfecting the stereo field to enhance the clarity of the sound.

It’s not only technical
During my mastering I strive to be a good advisor to you, the composer. As an experienced listener I can provide clear feedback and come up with creative solutions. Then, as an advisor it is important for me to understand your objective and get to know your sound. Finally, as a mastering engineer I have the tools as well as the skills to polish and perfect your recording. This way we bring out the best sound and the most interesting experience.

Remastering old releases
Sometimes a release was recorded and produced years back, in a way that doesn’t live up to your current standards. At EARLabs I’m capable of doing incredible restoration and updating. By eliminating scratches or hiss, removing thumps and background noises and enhancing the sonic field, the tonal balance and so on. All with great precision and respect for the integrity of the original recording.

Mastering for various formats
I have mastered for many different formats: CD, DVD, vinyl, cassette and download. I can deliver factory ready CD masters (DDP masters), vinyl masters (RIAA enhanced), download formats in FLAC, OGGvorbis, mp3. Also surround mixes are mastered to ac3 format (DTS 5.1) should you need this.
